Frequently Asked Questions

The Marquis Jet Card Program

Is the Marquis Jet Card program right for me?

The Marquis Jet Card program is for the large segment of the private aviation market whose security, flexibility and reliability needs require an alternative to chartering but who are not ready to make the full financial commitment and/or whose flying requirements are less than 50 hours a year. The Marquis Jet Card program provides clients with 25 hours of occupied flight time on aircraft operated by NetJets.

Tell me more about the Marquis Jet history and its relationship with NetJets

The NetJets program, introduced in 1986, pioneered the concept of fractional aircraft ownership. In 1998, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, one of the most financially successful companies in the world today, purchased NetJets. Marquis Jet Partners, Inc. was established in June 2001 as the first and only jet card program of its kind providing clients access to NetJets, the world's finest fleet of private aircraft, without having to enter into a long-term ownership program. In the Marquis Jet Card program NetJets operates the flights under the FAR Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. Marquis Jet Card Owners acquire a sublease in a pre-paid NetJets fractional aircraft ownership interest. Marquis Jet is an independent company not affiliated with NetJets and through its exclusive U.S. alliance sells the Marquis Jet Card.

Why did Marquis Jet align with NetJets?

No other fractional aircraft ownership program can match NetJets combination of experience, international capabilities, aircraft choices and focus on safety and pilot training. The business of making arrangements for over 390,000 flights annually to destinations around the world demands the experience that only NetJets can offer.

How does the Marquis Jet Card program compare to other Jet Card programs?

The Marquis Jet Card is the only program backed by NetJets fractional aircraft and their maintenance standards and pilots. NetJets provides you with guaranteed availability with as little as 10 hours notice. Card Owners request and receive the exact type of aircraft they desire, or they are given a complimentary upgrade. Other Jet Card and Block Charter programs work with a wide range of aircraft providers and cannot guarantee consistent aircraft, pilot and maintenance standards because they do not control or own the assets.

Which NetJets aircraft type is right for me?

The Marquis Jet Card program offers a broad selection of light, midsize and large cabin aircraft to fill most jet transportation needs. Marquis Jet sales executives will work with you to help determine which aircraft type(s) best fit your travel profile. Some Marquis Jet Card Owners acquire an interest in more than one aircraft type to serve varying trip requirements, while others choose to exchange to a larger or smaller aircraft as required.

What does it mean to exchange to a different aircraft?

Based upon travel itinerary requirements, Marquis Jet Card Owners can elect to exchange, i.e. substitute, their contracted aircraft for a larger or smaller aircraft operated by NetJets (subject to availability). Established NetJets exchange ratios calculate the occupied flight hours used for any exchange.

What does "occupied flight time" mean?

Occupied flight time is the actual flight time when passengers are on board plus an additional six minutes each for takeoff and landing. Waiting time, ground delays and standard aircraft positioning are not charged in the Marquis Jet Card program.

Will I always fly on the specific aircraft type that I lease?

When you call for your plane, either your aircraft, another aircraft of the same type, or a larger aircraft (a complimentary upgrade) will be provided.

What if all aircraft in the fleet type I own are in use when I want to travel?

NetJets guarantees your aircraft type or better. There may, however, be occasional instances when an aircraft from the NetJets program will not be available at the specific time you request. In those cases, NetJets will substitute an aircraft managed by its Executive Jet Management subsidiary, or other aircraft from approved vendors that have been carefully audited by NetJets.

How can NetJets guarantee aircraft availability?

The Marquis Jet Card program is the only jet card program backed by assets. Because we have a leasehold interest in the aircraft we sub-lease to our Card Owners and because you can exchange within the entire NetJets fleet, Marquis Jet has unequaled access to over 800 aircraft.* In addition, the use of the most sophisticated, proprietary software management and scheduling system allows for smooth and efficient movement of private aircraft throughout the U.S. and the world.

*Total number of aircraft includes aircraft under management by Executive Jet® Management.

In the Marquis Jet Card program will I sometimes have to share flights with other owners?

No. You have exclusive use of your aircraft when you travel.

Safety and Service

NetJets unparalleled commitment to pilot and crew training, owner services, scheduling and dispatch, maintenance and security is unmatched in the world.

How well-trained are the NetJets pilots?

NetJets pilots are among the most experienced and best trained in the world. In partnership with FlightSafety International - the world's preeminent flight training corporation - NetJets is consistently upgrading its leading-edge industry practices for its pilots. NetJets pilots attend recurrent training twice a year. And "new" NetJets pilots (typically with more than 7,500 hours of flying experience) train between 28 and 43 days in their first year to assure their understanding of NetJets commitment to safety.

How many airports can I access with my Marquis Jet Card?

Private aviation gives you access to far more airports than do scheduled commercial airlines. In the U.S. alone, there are 3,000 airports available for Marquis Jet Card Owners' use, versus 550 airports serviced by scheduled commercial airlines.

Can I fly to and within Europe with my Marquis Jet Card?

Yes. You can fly virtually anywhere depending on the aircraft type you acquire. Marquis Jet provides "international exchangeability," which means that you have guaranteed access to our European program without having to acquire a separate aircraft interest. You simply exchange to a similar aircraft type or other NetJets aircraft as available.?

How far in advance must I make them?

All reservations are booked through Marquis Jet Owner Services, available 24 hours per day, and 365 days a year. You can call for your aircraft with as little as 10 hours notice (120 hours notice required for "peak period days").

Who can fly on my aircraft?

Anyone you designate can travel on your aircraft, even without your presence on the flight.

What if my travel requirements change after I have purchased a specific aircraft type?

You can exchange up or down to any other aircraft type in the NetJets fleet as your needs change.
